Since the votings are done by other users, it's humanly nature is preferred by search engines and can boost your rankings at the same time. But prefer the Digg comments area if you want to make friends on Digg. Other Digg users can easily find you there) and create conversation. Another good thing about Digg is that you can find articles related to your niche and leave comments on the main page itself.
